#9 – Make Baked Alaska
This may seem like a strange bucket list item, but I have been fascinated with Baked Alaska since we were in Belfast on Thanksgiving Eve in 2022. Our Black Cab Taxi driver recommended a restaurant called Stix and Stones. After a delightful meal, the waiter brought out a Snowman Baked Alaska and I was hooked!
So, I started looking at Baked Alaska recipes and they are all over the place. The range from 4 ingredients to a whopping 19 ingredients! Some recipes take over 10 hours to make. Well, if you know me, you know that was not going to happen.
So, after some searching, I came across a recipe from Lana’s Cooking that did not require me to make the cake or the ice cream from scratch. So, I grabbed a Sara Lee pound cake, Breyer’s vanilla ice cream, egg whites and sugar and decided to go for it! The recipe was easy to follow, and it came out well. It was a great Tuesday night treat for the family!
Cheers to trying new things and being creative to fit your life!
