You Can Make Cakes Where?

You Can Make Cakes Where?

Every February, Jamie and I head to Walt Disney World to participate in the Princess Half Marathon for Children’s Miracle Network.  We love Disney, but it is a different experience without the kids.  Every year we try to find something unique to do.  This year, we headed to Amorette’s Patisserie to make our very own Mickey Dome Cake!

From the moment we stepped into the patisserie, it was like we were in France!  We were welcomed with drinks and met the other 12 people in our class.  Over the next 90 minutes, we learned all the techniques to make this cake.  We started with a 7-layer dome cake and ended with this masterpiece!  Given the copious drinks consumed, we were amazed that our final product actually looked like it was supposed to!  We painted fondant, “glued” chocolate, glazed (and glazed), frosted and assembled.  We became besties with the pastry chef (as we might have needed some additional guidance) and for 90 minutes we felt like we were in Paris, away from the crowds of Disney.

Would we recommend this?  Yes.  Was it pricey?  It’s Disney, do you have to ask?  Was it unique?  Yep.  It’s one of their signature experiences.  But the kicker of this cake?  I like my Duncan Hines box cake better!
