How Do You Write a Travel Blog in a Pandemic and Off the Beaten Path Las Vegas

2020 was an unparalleled year. I struggled to write a travel blog and be excited about sharing unique places and experiences when travel was so limited. Looking back on 2020, I was surprised that I got to make as many trips as I did. Pre-pandemic, I was able to get to Chicago, Orlando, and Arizona before the world shut down. I cancelled trips to London (twice), Ireland, Munich, Alaska, New York (twice) and Waco. During the pandemic, I was able to navigate trips to Michigan City, Traverse City (twice), Harbor Springs, Kansas, Western Michigan, Las Vegas, Florida and an epic East Coast road trip!

In November 2020, Lori, Mindy, Scott and I headed to Las Vegas. This was my first time flying since March, which is definitely the longest I have never been on a plane in my adulthood! It was crazy! While excited to soar, I was still a little skeptical about traveling and wanted to make sure I was as safe as possible. So, we focused on some safer options, which all happen to be kid friendly as well.

On Friday, we checked out The Neon Museum. An outdoor museum, showcasing the history of Las Vegas, is a great spot to explore safely, away from the crowded Strip.

On Saturday, we rented a car and headed out to Seven Magic Mountains to explore the land and appreciate the vastness of Nevada.

From there we headed out to Henderson, Nevada to take a Rail Explorers adventure. We had booked the The Southwest Ramble, a 4 mile downhill pedal powered ride from the station to the park and a historic train ride back to the station. Another outdoor activity that allowed for plenty of fresh air and social distancing!

Finding these activities, gave me the satisfaction of traveling while choosing “safer” options during the pandemic. Life’s too short not to enjoy it!
